Erbil: The Asayish (Kurdish security forces) of the Kurdistan Region announced the dismantling of the “Salman al-Farsi” Battalion in Iraq and the arrest of 10 of its members.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Asayish stated that its forces, in collaboration with the Iraqi National Security Service, successfully dismantled a dangerous group affiliated with ISIS. This group, known as the “Fifth Salman al-Farsi Battalion,” had ties to the so-called “Kurdistan Province.”

The statement detailed that the battalion’s objective was to reorganize the ranks of its members, form new terrorist groups, set up safe houses, and facilitate the movement of members from neighboring countries into the Kurdistan Region and southern Iraq.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 10 terrorists. Additionally, authorities seized 8 weapons, a pistol, two hand grenades, C4 explosives, a scope, and a suicide belt.
