Baghdad: Leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, criticized what he called the fatwa of the US Ambassador to Israel, asserting that it is a suspicious fatwa that justifies the shedding of innocent blood in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. He added that it is an extension of the killing of thousands of prophets and righteous people of the Children of Israel.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sadr expressed his concerns in a comment on the X app, questioning the right of a secularist to issue fatwas. Sadr challenged the legitimacy of such declarations, noting the contradiction in opposing holy books like the Torah while permitting their desecration when aligned with economic and religious interests.
Furthermore, Sadr highlighted the role of diplomatic corps in adhering to international laws and norms, emphasizing the need to respect recognized states and protect their citizens. He criticized the ambassador’s statements as lacking legal authority and as backward and barbaric.
Sadr linked the ambassador’s fatwa to a disregard for democratic, liberationist, and humanitarian principles. He urged international bodies and the Islamic world to counter what he described as expansionist colonial ambitions, comparing them to the terrorism of ISIS.
Finally, Sadr called for a serious and unified international political stance to curb what he viewed as insolence and tyranny, warning of dire consequences if such actions continued unchecked.
