Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, accompanied by Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, met during a Ramadan evening gathering with personnel from the Traffic Police Directorate serving at intersections and public squares, as well as members of Civil Defense and Emergency Police units.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister congratulated Interior Ministry personnel on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, commending their intensified efforts during this period. He affirmed his keenness to engage directly with various segments of society, particularly those serving in security and service positions throughout the holy month.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for professional discipline and avoiding provocative conduct in handling incidents. He underscored the importance of immediate and direct coordination among all ministry formations and the adoption of unified mechanisms to strengthen readiness in facing various cha
llenges.
Al-Sudani listened to interventions from personnel outlining their professional needs and requirements, directing that all necessary support be provided to enhance their job performance and social well-being. He emphasized that public trust in the state grows in proportion to the quality of service delivered by its personnel, noting that the Ministry of Interior is not solely a security institution but also plays a vital service role through its direct interaction with citizens.
The Prime Minister highlighted achievements in sustaining and developing the ministry by investing in human resources and equipping it with modern technologies. He called for the law to be enforced firmly and fairly while preserving a humane approach in dealing with citizens. He further stressed the need for swift and calculated security responses to prevent casualties and reiterated the importance of strengthening relations among commanders, officers, and personnel without discrimination to ensure the fulfillment of duties
and protection of rights.
Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq’s security and stability would not have been achieved without the sacrifices of the martyrs, expressing confidence in the ministry’s leadership and personnel. He described the ministry’s experience over past decades as a successful one. He also stated that criminal crime rates have declined by more than half-an unprecedented rate in Iraq and the region-adding that security and stability have enabled the state to advance reconstruction and development projects. Iraq, he concluded, is moving in the right direction despite what he described as media noise targeting the country’s progress in state-building.
