The National Intelligence Council Confirms Iraq’s Position Calling For An Immediate Cessation Of Military Operations


Baghdad: The National Intelligence Council reaffirmed Iraq’s position calling for an immediate cessation of military operations.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory stated in a press release: “The National Intelligence Council held an emergency meeting chaired by National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, with the participation of intelligence community leaders.”



It explained that: “During the meeting, the latest developments in the region, the military escalation, and the bombing operations that targeted a number of locations in Iraq and brotherly and friendly countries were discussed.”



The attendees stressed the need to exert maximum efforts to strengthen and consolidate internal security, and to adhere to the government directives issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.



The meeting affirmed Iraq’s firm position calling for an immediate cessation of military operations by all parties, prioritizing wisdom and restraint, and resorting to dialogue and constructive understanding as a means to resolve differences, in a way that preserves the interests of the peoples and safeguards security and peace in the region and the world.
