Oil Tanker Targeted While Passing Through Strait of Hormuz

Tehran: An oil tanker attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz was targeted, as reported by Iranian state television (IRIB) today. Despite prior warnings from Iranian forces, the tanker came under attack in the strategic waterway.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the television station revealed that the attacked oil tanker is “sinking,” though it did not provide further details about the tanker’s identity or any potential casualties. The incident underscores the volatile situation in the region, as tensions continue to rise.

The Iranian army had earlier declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. It warned ships against transiting the route, citing increased tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which have contributed to the perceived insecurity in the area.
