Najaf: The Supreme Religious Authority in Najaf, Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, extended his condolences to the Iranian people and Muslims worldwide over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in an official message, al-Sistani expressed his profound sorrow over Khamenei’s death, offering condolences to the ‘noble Iranian people and Muslims across the world.’ He praised the late leader’s distinguished status and his pivotal role in guiding the Islamic Republic for many years, describing his leadership as unique and widely recognized.
Al-Sistani further stated that the assassination of Khamenei and the launch of a large-scale military aggression against Iran were aimed at undermining the country. He stressed that, under the current sensitive and challenging circumstances, the Iranian nation is expected to preserve unity and national cohesion and not allow aggressors to achieve their objectives.
The statement concluded with prayers for the deceased’s elevated status and divine mercy, as well as patience and solace for those grieving his loss.
