SMC: 9 Drones, Attempted To Target Military Sites In Basra, Shot Down


Basra: The Security Media Cell announced that nine drones attempted to target military sites in Basra were shot down.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell released a statement detailing the interception. The statement highlighted that specialized defenses managed to detect and neutralize two drones attempting to target a military site inside Imam Ali Air Base in Dhi Qar Governorate. Shortly thereafter, another two drones were downed as they attempted the same objective.



The statement further elaborated that later on, authorities detected and shot down five additional drones targeting military sites in Basra Governorate. This operation brought the total number of neutralized drones to nine, and fortunately, there were no casualties or material losses reported.



Authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to maintaining high levels of readiness, ensuring the security and safety of military units and installations. Investigations and necessary procedures continue according to established protocols to prevent future threats.
