Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its ambassador and all members of its diplomatic mission from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that the decision came in response to what it described as “aggressive attacks” targeting civilian sites within the country, including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities.
The statement described these attacks as “a dangerous and irresponsible escalation, a flagrant violation of national sovereignty, and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter.” The Ministry stressed that this step embodies the UAE’s firm and unwavering stance in rejecting any aggression against its security and sovereignty.
The decision comes in the wake of a series of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran against UAE territory on Saturday.
