Baghdad: The National Security Council held its third meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, chaired by National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, with the attendance of council members.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory stated in a press release that the council discussed the current situation in the region, its repercussions, and the level of security preparedness. The meeting focused on various agenda items, including the urban intelligence and regional security system project, and necessary decisions were made regarding these topics.
The council also considered recommendations from committees formed to address the operational procedures of tourism companies as they relate to security matters. Additionally, the council reviewed a technical report on the development of equipment for detecting explosives and narcotics.
Further discussions were held on a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and its Jordanian counterpart, with decisions made to advance this bilateral agreement.
