Baghdad: The committee responsible for overseeing Iraq's debt obligations to developing countries convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss strategies for repayment and rescheduling of loans. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al-Dulaimi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Technical Affairs, and included Dr. Farhad Ni'ma Hussein, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement highlighting that the committee reviewed existing loans provided to developing nations and examined procedures for repayment or rescheduling. This review was conducted in alignment with the directives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

The committee engaged in talks about how to effectively communicate and negotiate with the debtor countries to settle these loans. The aim is to protect the financial interests of Iraq and improve the management and oversight of the nation's external financial obligations.

The committee concluded the meeting by reaffirming its dedication to continue discussions and provide necessary recommendations to the relevant authorities. This will be done following the established legal and administrative procedures.

The meeting saw participation from key figures, including the Head of the External Development Fund at the Ministry of Finance, the Director General of the Administrative and Financial Department at the Ministry of Trade, the Director General of the Financial Department at the Central Bank of Iraq, and Firas Munther Abdul Karim, Director General of the Department of Cabinet Affairs and Committees at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
