Baghdad: The Governor of Baghdad, Atwan Al-Atwani, has announced the commencement of construction on nine new schools in the Al-Zawraa district. This initiative is part of a broader package of service projects aimed at enhancing the educational sector.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the governor stated that the new schools will each consist of three structural floors, featuring 18 classrooms, administrative and security buildings, laboratories, and gardens. These facilities will be equipped with modern educational and office supplies, as well as fire suppression systems.

Engineer Al-Atwani detailed that the projects include the demolition and reconstruction of several primary schools, such as Al-Ihsan Primary School in the Al-Hamidiya area, and Al-Ahla, Al-Wissam, and Shatt Al-Arab Primary Schools in the Al-Ma'amel area. Additionally, new school buildings are being constructed on the grounds of Al-Amal Secondary School, Al-Rashad School, and the Martyr Firas Mu'ayyad School in Al-Ma'amel, as well as on the grounds of Shatt Al-Arab School. Furthermore, a new primary school is being built on plot number 2/4213 in the Sha'oura area, all within the Al-Zawraa district.

The governor emphasized that the latest standard and architectural specifications are being adopted for these school buildings. He highlighted the local government's commitment to addressing the shortage of schools in the capital, eliminating double shifts, and creating a supportive educational environment to advance the educational process.
