Acting Minister of Education Orders Investigation into School Fire Incident in Diyala

Diyala: The acting Minister of Education has ordered the formation of an urgent investigative committee following a fire incident in Diyala. Acting Minister of Education Ahmed al-Asadi directed the formation of an urgent investigative committee to determine the circumstances surrounding a fire that broke out in al-Aswad village, al-Khalis district, Diyala Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a ministry statement indicated that "Acting Minister of Education Ahmed al-Asadi directed the formation of an urgent investigative committee to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire that broke out this morning in the shared school building housing al-Iqtidaar Girls' Secondary School and al-Mu'minat Primary School in al-Aswad village, al-Khalis district, Diyala Governorate."

The statement added that "Civil Defense teams were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the building, after it broke out in the administration office of al-Mu'minat School, which operates in the afternoon. The administration of al-Iqtidaar Secondary School promptly notified the relevant teams immediately after the incident."

The statement also noted that "seven students suffered minor smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They recovered and were discharged after their health stabilized."

Al-Asadi stressed "the necessity of reviewing electrical installations and strengthening safety procedures in schools to ensure the safety of students and educational staff."
