Babylon Movement Dismisses Assassination Rumors Concerning Leader Rayan al-Kaldani

Baghdad: The Babylon Movement has denied allegations of an assassination attempt against its leader, Rayan al-Kaldani, and other leaders within the movement in Mosul, labeling these claims as unfounded and unsubstantiated.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the movement issued a press statement on Monday, categorizing these rumors as part of a deliberate campaign by adversaries of the Iraqi political establishment, designed to unsettle the nation and generate media disarray. The statement further clarified that the origins of these rumors are traced back to questionable platforms and pages outside Baghdad.

The movement elaborated that investigations with relevant authorities have identified that several websites and pages spreading these rumors are operated from the Erbil Governorate, including those associated with media outlets linked to the Barzani family. Additionally, the movement warned that any attack or hostile action against its headquarters in Nineveh Governorate would result in the Kurdistan Democratic Party being held entirely responsible.

The statement concluded by asserting that previous attacks would face legal consequences under existing Iraqi laws.
