Al-Sudani and Rubio Discuss Regional Developments and Diplomatic Security

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani engaged in a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where they explored the current situation in the region and deliberated on the latest regional developments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement highlighting al-Sudani’s reaffirmation of Iraq’s dedication to safeguarding diplomatic missions, embassies, and consulates within its borders. This commitment is a fundamental responsibility of the Iraqi armed forces across all their units and branches.

Al-Sudani underscored the necessity of preventing the use of Iraqi airspace, land, and waters for any military actions against neighboring countries or the broader region. He reiterated Iraq’s unwavering position of non-participation in military operations and its refusal to be entangled in ongoing conflicts or to permit violations of its airspace by any entity.

Additionally, the call encompassed bilateral discussions on shared interests, including the revival of work on the Iraqi oil pipeline intended for export through Turkish territory.
