Al-Hakim Urges Swift Formation of Iraqi Government to Tackle Economic Challenges

Baghdad: Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, has called for the completion of the three presidencies and the formation of a government capable of leading Iraq through current challenges, with a particular focus on economic issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Alliance’s media office reported that al-Hakim met with the Russian Federation’s accredited Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the region, as well as bilateral relations and potential avenues for strengthening and developing these ties to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples. In this context, al-Hakim emphasized the need to coordinate positions on issues of common interest and reiterated his call for the completion of the three presidencies, the election of a president, and the formation of a capable government.

On a regional level, al-Hakim recalled his earlier warnings that conflicts in the region could spill beyond borders, adversely affecting regional and international peace and security. He urged an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to negotiations as the sole path to resolving outstanding issues. Additionally, he called on the international community, through its institutions, to exert pressure to halt conflicts that are detrimental to all involved.
