Baghdad: The Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, convened its tenth regular session, adopting several crucial decisions aimed at maximizing state resources amidst regional developments impacting Iraq. The session included a review of the country’s situation and agenda items, resulting in significant resolutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed condolences on the anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib’s martyrdom, emphasizing his legacy of justice, reform, and anti-corruption. The Council made decisions to boost state revenues and curb expenditures, including forming a committee to oversee Cabinet decisions on public company payments, reporting on non-oil revenues, and continuing automation across government sectors.

Further decisions involved the Ministry of Communications managing telecommunications revenue, and the Trade Ministry assessing the financial effects of suspending the ration card system. The Council also examined Iraqi Funds Recovery efforts and authorized the Ministry of Interior to acquire drone countermeasures to bolster military capabilities.

In the oil sector, the Cabinet ratified terms for a framework agreement with Chevron for managing the West Qurna 2 oil field. Amendments were made to fund energy and emission projects, and infrastructure development continued with increased funding for housing and extending contracts for projects in Samarra.

The Council supported the Iraqi Radioactive Sources Control Authority’s decontamination efforts and allocated funds for radioactive waste management. In liquidation matters, the Ministry of Transport was urged to expedite the process for several Iraqi-Arab companies, with quarterly reports required on progress.
