Madrid: Atletico Madrid of Spain handed Tottenham Hotspur a decisive 5-2 defeat on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Los Rojiblancos dominated the game with goals from Marcos Llorente, who opened the scoring early in the 6th minute, followed by Antoine Griezmann in the 14th minute. Julian Alvarez added to the tally with strikes in the 15th and 55th minutes, while Robin Le Normand contributed with a goal in the 22nd minute.

Tottenham Hotspur managed to score twice with Pedro Porro finding the net in the 26th minute and Dominic Solanke scoring in the 76th minute. Despite their efforts, Spurs face a challenging task in the second leg, needing to overcome a significant deficit in London next Wednesday.
