Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned against dragging the Middle East into a comprehensive catastrophe. Speaking at the ceremony in Ankara, where he presented the Atatrk International Peace Prize to UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, Erdogan said that Turkey is exerting intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of the spiral of violence centered in Iran, which threatens to plunge the region into a comprehensive disaster.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan added that Turkey continues its efforts, patiently and resolutely, to stop the war in the region, emphasizing that his country seeks to “bring water to extinguish the flames” wherever they ignite, particularly in a region suffering from conflicts, wars, atrocities, and humanitarian crises. He stressed that Ankara is doing its utmost to alleviate the impact of conflicts and wars.
For his part, Guterres warned that a war with Iran poses a significant and real threat to international peace and world peace, calling for an immediate return to the negotiating table.
