Baghdad: Ashraqat Kanoun, a member of the Ishraqa Kanun bloc, has condemned the recent targeting of Popular Mobilization Forces and security forces headquarters, labeling it a blatant violation of Iraqi state sovereignty. Members of Parliament from the bloc are calling on Parliament to fulfill its oversight and legislative responsibilities, pressing the government to adopt a clear and firm official stance against these attacks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ishraqa Kanun bloc issued a statement expressing their alarm at the attacks, which they believe show a disregard for the lives of Iraqis who defend their homeland. The statement holds the aggressors fully responsible for their actions and criticizes the government’s negligence in protecting its personnel and upholding their rights and dignity.

The bloc implores Parliament to act urgently, urging the government to take several steps. These include adopting a clear stance on the attacks, filing an official complaint with the UN Security Council, pursuing legal action against the perpetrators, and implementing immediate measures to protect deployed forces and ensure their safety.

The statement concludes by underscoring that the blood of Iraq’s sons is sacred and that the country’s sovereignty is inviolable. It warns that silence or leniency in the face of these attacks could embolden those who wish to weaken the state and undermine its dignity.
