Baghdad: The Ministry of Defense on Monday affirmed that Iraq is fully relying on itself in the process of building military capabilities and developing the intelligence and combat system, pointing to significant progress in the capabilities of the Ground Forces Command, Special Forces, and Army Aviation, all of which are managed by Iraqi military expertise.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Director of the Ministry of Defense’s Media and Moral Guidance Directorate, Maj. Gen. Tahseen Al-Khafaji, stated that Iraq relies on itself in the process of building capabilities. He highlighted that the Ground Forces Command has developed considerably in terms of capabilities and capacities in dealing with terrorism, armament, equipment, and the ability to confront, deploy and distribute forces.

Al-Khafaji further explained that the Iraqi Special Forces have made significant advancements, and Army Aviation now possesses enhanced capabilities in airborne operations. He emphasized that the intelligence system within the Ministry of Defense has advanced considerably, particularly in the field of drones, intelligence and security information gathering, analysis, and providing military sectors with precise information about the enemy.

He remarked, “All of this is managed by Iraqi military expertise, and the Ministry of Defense has relied on itself in preserving achievements and pursuing development, because Iraq must rely on itself.”

Al-Khafaji also noted that since the liberation battles until now, two joint brigades have been established to control the borders, adding that extensive work has been carried out in combating smuggling, drug trafficking, and organized crime. He highlighted the government’s crucial role in restricting weapons to the hands of the state, describing it as a complement to the achievements of the security institutions.
