Baghdad: The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has called on political forces represented in the Kurdistan Parliament to expedite the activation of the legislature and leave the task of resolving disputes to MPs inside the parliament.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the KDP emphasized that the ongoing situation in the Kurdistan Region places a national, patriotic, and moral responsibility on all parties to swiftly find solutions. The party urged political forces, regardless of their representation size, to activate parliament, open dialogue within the legislature, and abide by the decisions adopted by the Parliament.

The KDP stated that MPs bear the responsibility for conducting a productive dialogue under the parliament dome to reach appropriate solutions. This call to action comes after meetings, delegations, visits, and exchanges of messages failed to achieve the desired results.

The statement highlighted that since the announcement of the results of the sixth parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region, the party has led multiple efforts aimed at activating constitutional institutions. These efforts included dialogue with political forces, the presentation of various initiatives and scenarios, as well as bilateral and multilateral contacts, messages, and meetings, all aimed at electing the region’s presidency and forming the tenth cabinet.

The KDP noted that these initiatives, carried out with the participation and oversight of party leader Masoud Barzani, had not received “the required positive response and stance,” arguing that the continuation of the current deadlock serves no party and harms the Kurdistan Region, its political experience, and its achievements.
