Baghdad: The General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances announced on Tuesday the arrest of a major drug smuggler in possession of 32 kg of Captagon near the Arar border crossing in Anbar province.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Directorate revealed that the arrest was part of a high-quality security operation based on precise intelligence and reliable information. The operation involved continuous monitoring of the suspect’s movements, which culminated in his arrest while attempting to smuggle the drugs into a neighboring country.

The statement further detailed that the successful operation underscores the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug smuggling networks and eliminate their sources. By targeting major smugglers and traffickers, the Directorate aims to enhance national security and prevent the smuggling of harmful substances into and out of Iraq.
