Baquba: A local official has accused Diyala Governor Adnan al-Shammari of using his security personnel to intimidate the Baquba Municipality Directorate and its employees. The head of the Security and Defense Committee in the Diyala Provincial Council, Rashad Khalid al-Tamimi, made the accusation against the governor, highlighting concerns about the misuse of power.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rashad al-Tamimi stated that the governor's use of his security detail for personal conflicts and interests represents a serious deviation from their intended duties. Al-Tamimi emphasized that employing these personnel to conduct raids and incursions against official departments without judicial warrants undermines the dignity of the military uniform and involves them in legal violations.
Al-Tamimi has called for the Diyala police chief to initiate an immediate and thorough investigation into the actions of all officers and ranks involved in the raid, stressing that their participation in activities that violate judicial procedures must be addressed. The demand for accountability reflects growing concerns about the potential abuse of power within the region's governance structure.
