Tehran: The United States is an unreliable party. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated on Sunday that the United States is an unreliable party.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qalibaf emphasized in a press statement, "The United States is an unreliable party, and therefore we established clear lines in the negotiations and maintained them." This assertion underscores Iran's cautious stance in its dealings with the U.S., reflecting ongoing tensions and mistrust between the two nations.
Qalibaf further commented on regional issues, stating, "The issue of the Resistance Front and Lebanon is one of our red lines." He reiterated Iran's steadfast position, adding, "We have not backed down from our fundamental demand in the Memorandum of Understanding to end the war against our allies and the Resistance Front." These remarks highlight Iran's commitment to its regional allies and its strategic interests.
It is worth noting that Iran and the United States announced on June 18, 2016, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement called for an end to the military conflict that began on June 28, the lifting of the naval blockade on Iranian ports, and the restoration of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. It also set a timetable for negotiations regarding the Iranian nuclear program to be concluded within 60 days.
