Najaf: The Najaf Governorate Council, during its weekly session chaired by Hussein Al-Issawi, voted to elect Majid Al-Abadi, the candidate of the Al-Asas Alliance, as the deputy head of the council.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the council's media office announced that Al-Abadi will replace Ghaith Shabaa, who is pursuing a seat in the Council of Representatives.
