Basra: The Basra Governorate Police Command has successfully unveiled the truth behind an incident where a citizen falsely claimed that his house in the Abu al-Khasib district was targeted in a “tribal raid” as a means to evade debts.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident was orchestrated by the homeowner, who conspired with three individuals to simulate a shooting. This was intended to create the illusion of a ‘tribal raid’ to avoid financial obligations. The investigation, led by a specialized team from the Basra Criminal Investigation Department under the supervision of Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha al-Saad, was launched following a report of gunfire by unknown assailants on a motorcycle.
The investigation revealed that the gunfire was staged, and the weapon used belonged to the homeowner, who fled the scene. The three co-conspirators have been arrested under Article 4 of the Counter-Terrorism Law. Efforts are ongoing to capture the fugitive homeowner.
