Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Commits to Strengthening Iraq’s Rule of Law and Expanding U.S. Partnerships

Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has affirmed his commitment to strengthening the rule of law and advancing opportunities and essential services for Iraqi citizens. In an article published in The Washington Post, al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq is at a pivotal moment in its national reform process, a transition eagerly anticipated by society.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi stated in the article, "Our priority in government work is building a state that all Iraqis can be proud of." He underscored his government's efforts to ensure the state's legitimate monopoly on the use of force, noting significant progress in disarming armed groups and integrating them into state institutions within the first 60 days of his government.

Al-Zaidi outlined his vision for a new phase of partnership with the United States, coinciding with the September 30 conclusion of the coalition forces' mission in Iraq. He expressed his intent to deepen ties with the U.S. during an upcoming visit to Washington, aiming to transition the relationship from crisis management to creating opportunities.

During his meeting with President Donald Trump, al-Zaidi plans to discuss practical ways to achieve a vision of partnership and shared opportunities, focusing on investment. He expressed a desire for American companies to explore opportunities in Iraq's infrastructure, energy, industry, technology, and digital economy sectors. Al-Zaidi asserted that Iraq will implement necessary reforms, emphasizing the importance of international confidence, stability, a clear vision, and an attractive investment environment for economic progress.

Al-Zaidi highlighted Iraq's potential as a leading economic hub in the region, citing its vast oil reserves, natural resources, skilled workforce, and large domestic market. He acknowledged the United States as a crucial partner in promoting international peace and expanding cooperation between Iraq and its neighbors, stressing that regional stability is vital for Iraq's development.

He also pointed out that Iraqis, having endured wars, dictatorship, and terrorism, are ready to write a new chapter in their global relationships based on integration into the global economic and financial systems. Al-Zaidi conveyed a message of confidence to the United States, asserting Iraq's sovereignty and its commitment to development over regional conflicts.

The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that great nations are built through conscious will, seizing historical moments where hope meets wisdom and leadership, and expressed optimism in achieving this future in partnership with American friends.
