Baghdad: President Nizar Amidi attended the ceremony to rename Sulaimaniyah Airport after Jalal Talabani International Airport. In his address during the ceremony, the President expressed the significance of the occasion, emphasizing the tribute to Jalal Talabani's national contributions and legacy.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Amidi highlighted the emotional and symbolic nature of the renaming. He noted that the new name honors Talabani's dedication to building a democratic and free life for Kurdistan, as well as his efforts in establishing a democratic, federal Iraqi state. The President stressed that Talabani's life and thought offered examples of confidence in the future and played a crucial role in strengthening national understanding.
Amidi further remarked on Talabani's role in overcoming crises and his aspiration for democratic development. He praised Talabani's commitment to dialogue and national understanding, values that continue to inspire and guide the nation. In light of current regional and global challenges, Amidi called for wisdom, solidarity, and diligent work to ensure security, sovereignty, and the eradication of corruption.
