Baghdad: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck Malatya province in eastern Turkey this morning. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) reported that the earthquake occurred at 6:20 AM local time, with its epicenter in the Battalgazi district at a depth of 15.59 kilometers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Malatya Governor Sedar Yavuz announced in a post on the American platform X that specialized teams have begun field surveys and that no negative results or reports have been received so far. Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum confirmed that no negative results have been detected so far, and that all incoming reports are being evaluated.

The tremor was felt in five eastern Turkish provinces: Malatya, Elazig, Adiyaman, Tunceli, and Sanliurfa. Partial collapses of several buildings were reported, but no casualties were reported.
