Baghdad: US forces continued their bombardment of Iran for the seventh consecutive day, as President Donald Trump considers striking an Iranian nuclear site under construction. Tehran warned that it would launch a devastating attack if Washington proceeded with such an action.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in a statement on its "X" platform that the seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran concluded on the evening of July 17. These strikes targeted observation posts, logistical infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities, and naval capabilities, using fighter jets, drones, and warships.

CENTCOM affirmed its continued commitment to holding Iran accountable through a comprehensive naval blockade of its ports, noting the deployment of more than 50,000 US troops in the Middle East at a high state of combat readiness.

Amid the escalating tensions, reports indicate that the Trump administration informed Israel of its intention to send dozens of additional refueling aircraft in anticipation of expanding military operations.

Washington is considering options for a broader attack that could include bombing power plants, nuclear facilities, and the Peak Axe Mountain underground site, suspected of being a nuclear facility under construction.

For his part, Mohsen Rezaei, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, warned that continued US attacks over the next two or three days would push Iranian forces to immediately move to a phase of "attack and total destruction."
