Baghdad: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that four U.S. service members are either killed or missing, and one has been wounded following Iranian attacks in Jordan and northern Iraq.

According to Iraqi News Agency, CENTCOM disclosed the unfortunate events on Sunday, stating that two U.S. service members were confirmed dead and another went missing in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17. The command announced that earlier on Sunday, U.S. forces recovered unidentified remains at the site, and forensic examinations are underway to ascertain the individual's identity.

In northern Iraq, CENTCOM detailed a separate incident where a U.S. service member was killed on July 18. This occurred during the controlled disposal of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. Another service member sustained injuries and is currently under medical care.

CENTCOM emphasized the withholding of additional details, including the identities of the affected service members, to respect the families' privacy as the notification process continues.
