Baghdad: The National Commission for Accountability and Justice is set to facilitate the process for victims of the former regime to obtain compensation for damages caused by the Ba’ath Party and its repressive apparatus. This initiative marks a significant step towards addressing the grievances of those affected by the regime’s crimes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme National Commission for Accountability and Justice has announced its intention to enforce Article 3/Fourth of the Accountability and Justice Law No. 10 of 2008. This article enables victims of the Ba’ath Party and its repressive apparatus to seek compensation for the damages they incurred. The process will involve a review by the relevant authorities to ensure that victims can claim what they are entitled to.

The Commission has urged all ministries and government entities to give priority to handling transactions, requests, and files concerning victims of the former regime. It emphasized the importance of facilitating the work of the Commission’s representatives by streamlining the process for receiving these requests. The Commission is advocating for the opening of direct coordination channels and the circumvention of bureaucratic procedures to expedite the compensation process.
