Baghdad: A joint team from the Baghdad Environment Directorate conducted a field inspection of a gypsum production plant in the Latifiya area, in response to a citizen's complaint regarding unregulated burning and noise emissions from the site.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, Sadiq al-Moussawi, confirmed that the inspection showed the plant's compliance with environmental regulations and instructions, and that it had obtained environmental approval. He explained that the burning incident was accidental, resulting from the combustion of packaging materials, and that no unregulated burning operations were taking place within the plant.
