According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official rankings published by FIFA on its website show Spain topping the world rankings for the first time in years after winning the 2026 World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final. Argentina dropped to second place after leading the rankings before the tournament.
France retained its third-place ranking despite finishing fourth in the tournament after losing to England 6-4 in the third-place match. England climbed to fourth place after achieving its best result in the World Cup in 60 years, reaching the semi-finals and then winning third place.
Brazil dropped one place to fifth after their exit in the round of 16, while Morocco climbed one spot to sixth, achieving the highest ranking ever for an Arab and African team in the FIFA rankings.
Egypt made a notable leap for an Arab nation in the new rankings, jumping five places to 24th globally, second in the Arab world, and third in Africa, following their strong showing at the World Cup, where they reached the round of 16.
The Pharaohs were eliminated from the tournament by Argentina in a 3-2 defeat marked by questionable refereeing decisions, but their performance throughout the competition significantly improved their ranking.
Algeria slipped one place to 29th globally, third in the Arab world, and fifth in Africa, continuing their upward trajectory in the international rankings.
The Saudi national team climbed three places to 58th globally and fourth among Arab nations, while the Tunisian national team experienced the biggest Arab drop in the new rankings, plummeting 12 places from 45th to 57th globally.
The Qatari national team also fell three places to 59th globally, followed by the Iraqi national team, which dropped to 63rd from 57th. The Jordanian national team faced a setback in the new rankings, plummeting 10 places to 73rd globally.
