Baghdad: The Parliamentary Finance Committee has received a formal request from contract employees operating under Resolution (315) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. These employees are seeking the allocation of a specific budget item in the 2027 general budget to facilitate their transition to permanent positions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the contract employees argue that they have accumulated at least four years of service and have demonstrated proficiency in fulfilling their duties. They believe that securing permanent employment would not only enhance job stability but also allow the ministry to benefit from their accumulated expertise.

The head of the committee, MP Uday Awad al-Tamimi, has stated that the Parliamentary Finance Committee is committed to addressing the legitimate demands of different employee segments, including contractors. Al-Tamimi assured that the committee will carefully review the request in collaboration with relevant authorities, ensuring that any actions taken are in line with financial feasibility and legal requirements, while also aiming to achieve fairness and protect workers’ rights.

Al-Tamimi further highlighted the committee’s ongoing support for initiatives aimed at bolstering job stability and the development of state institutions. He emphasized that these efforts are designed to serve the public interest and ensure the effective use of national expertise.
