Baghdad: Three Emirati female artists are showcasing their work at the American exhibition “Rooted Movements,” organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi as part of the Nomad Hamptons events. This exhibition is part of the department’s strategic partnership with the Nomad Gallery, aiming to promote contemporary Emirati art on a global platform.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the exhibition, hosted by the Watermill Center in New York, features the artistic contributions of Afra Al Dhaheri, Zahour Al Sayegh, and Azza Al Qubaisi. These artists explore themes of connection, heritage, and transformation, drawing on memory, place, and identity, and reinterpreting them with contemporary perspectives. The event builds on the success of Nomad Abu Dhabi 2025, furthering cultural dialogue between the UAE and international audiences.

The participating artists present distinct artistic visions, employing various materials and styles, yet converging on themes of growth, transformation, and continuity. Afra Al Dhaheri’s installations are inspired by the material and symbolic properties of poetry, emphasizing identity and transformation. Zahour Al Sayegh uses ceramics to explore the life cycle of the date palm, symbolizing continuity and renewal. Meanwhile, Azza Al Qubaisi’s “Metaphor” series draws on natural forms to express growth and memory.

This exhibition marks the strengthening of cultural ties through the strategic partnership between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Nomad, showcasing Emirati creativity on an international stage. The department anticipates hosting the next edition of Nomad Abu Dhabi in November 2026, continuing its commitment to fostering global cultural dialogue.
