Baghdad: The Central Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced two men to five years and one month in prison for promoting extremist ideology on social media.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement that the two individuals were convicted of supporting ISIS by promoting the militant group’s ideology on social media platforms. They were also found guilty of inciting and planning terrorist attacks as members of what is referred to as the “Lone Wolves Cell.”

The court delivered the sentences under Article 10 of Iraq’s Law No. 32 of 2016. This law prohibits the Baath Party, as well as any racist, terrorist, and extremist entities, parties, and activities.
