Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has commenced a campaign aimed at removing encroachments on rivers and irrigation projects in the northern regions of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command announced on Tuesday that its units have undertaken an operation leading to the filling in and demolition of banks at 11 unauthorized fish farms. The operation also targeted encroachments on rivers and irrigation projects across various areas in the Tarmiyah district, located north of the capital.

The Command emphasized that these actions are intended to protect water allocations meant for crop irrigation and to minimize water waste. The measures are part of an ongoing campaign in collaboration with Water Resources detachments, aiming to bolster support for governmental departments.
