Trump Claims Ongoing Dialogue with Iran Amidst High Tensions

Baghdad: US President Donald Trump has revealed ongoing behind-the-scenes discussions with Iran, asserting that the Iranian government is eager to meet with him. Despite this, Trump stated that there is no interest in such a meeting unless it promises substantial outcomes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump expressed this stance in a recent press statement, highlighting that while Iran is showing a strong desire for dialogue, the US administration is holding firm on its conditions. Trump emphasized that any potential meeting must be "meaningful" for it to take place.

Trump also discussed efforts to weaken Iran's capabilities, particularly in preventing the nation from developing nuclear weapons. He claimed that the US has significantly reduced Iran's capacities in this regard. Furthermore, he mentioned that the US is prepared to respond to any incidents in strategic locations such as Bab al-Mandab, referencing past actions taken against the Houthis as an example of US readiness.

In his remarks, Trump suggested that Iran would require two to two and a half decades to recover from the damage inflicted by US policies. This statement underscores the long-term impact of the current US strategy towards Iran.
