Baghdad: Two individuals have been sentenced to five years and one month in prison for disseminating extremist racist ideas on social media platforms.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Central Criminal Court revealed that the convicted men supported ISIS terrorist groups by promoting them on social media and were involved in inciting and planning terrorist operations. The court identified their actions as part of an affiliation with a lone wolf cell.

The court’s statement highlighted that the sentencing was conducted under the provisions of Article 10 of Law No. 32 of 2016. This law strictly prohibits the operations of the Ba’ath Party along with any racist, terrorist, and takfiri entities, parties, and activities.
