Baghdad: The Diwaniyah Agriculture Directorate has announced the introduction of invasive fish species into the province’s rivers and streams.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directorate’s statement detailed that staff from the Livestock Services Department conducted a field visit to assess the situation. The investigation covered the Third Branch of the River, the Al-Dalmaj Marsh, and its tributaries. The objective was to evaluate the spread of these invasive fish species, propose necessary measures, and engage with relevant authorities to help curb their proliferation and contribute to maintaining ecological balance.
