Tourism Authority and German Agency Explore Collaboration for Iraq’s Economic Transformation


Baghdad: The Tourism Authority of Iraq has initiated discussions with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at developing the tourism sector and promoting economic transformation in the country. Nasser Ghanem Murad, the head of the Tourism Authority, engaged with a delegation from GIZ to enhance joint efforts in implementing economic transformation projects that could significantly impact Iraq’s tourism landscape.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on organizing workshops across several Iraqi governorates. These workshops aim to develop policies that would enhance tourist destinations, increase their attractiveness, and boost their competitiveness by aligning with leading global practices. Murad emphasized the importance of the partnership with the German Agency and other international organizations as a crucial element in supporting plans to develop Iraq’s tourism sector. He highlighted tourism as a vital sector that plays a significant role in stimulating economic growth.
