Baghdad: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission aimed at enhancing scientific, academic, and research cooperation. This initiative involves exchanging expertise and training personnel to strengthen institutional and research development.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the memorandum was signed by Dr. Hazem Abdul Razzaq, who is the Director General of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up, representing the Ministry, and Dr. Munir Kadhim Mohsen, Assistant Director General, representing the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission. The agreement outlines plans for organizing scientific conferences and specialized workshops, encouraging joint research in the peaceful uses of atomic energy, and developing postgraduate programs in fields related to nuclear and radiation sciences.

The memorandum underscores the significance of fostering academic collaboration in areas such as the peaceful uses of atomic energy, agricultural applications, lasers, plasma, and water resources. It aims to utilize scientific research outputs to address issues related to the peaceful applications of nuclear energy and other scientific fields.

Further areas of collaboration include the exchange of lecturers and researchers, participation in graduate student discussion committees, and academic supervision. These efforts are intended to promote integration between the two institutions and elevate the level of scientific research and academic qualification.
