Baghdad: Documented evidence shows Fayhan calling for securing the necessary funding to cover the needs of the Arba’een pilgrimage. The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, called on Tuesday for securing the necessary funding to cover the needs of the Arba’een pilgrimage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the First Deputy Speaker’s media office stated in a press release that Al-Dulaimi, in an official letter addressed to Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, called for securing the necessary funding for ministries, governorates, and non-ministerial entities to implement the plans related to the Arba’een pilgrimage. This request is based on the recommendations from the expanded oversight hearing held by Parliament on Monday, chaired by the First Deputy Speaker.

He explained that this comes within the framework of the ongoing follow-up conducted by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the Parliamentary Committee on the urgent needs of the Arba’een pilgrimage. This follow-up involves the adoption of several recommendations, including utilizing the funds collected by the Media and Communications Commission. This is in accordance with Article (27/First) of the Financial Management Law No. (6) of 2019, which stipulates that collected taxes and fees are considered final revenue for the public treasury. Furthermore, there is a demand for the Ministry of Finance and the Media and Communications Commission to be instructed to take the necessary measures regarding the transfer, to ensure the success of the millions-strong Arba’een pilgrimage.
