Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has mandated the immediate identification and dismissal of any undersecretary or director general suspected of engaging in corrupt practices. This decisive move was announced at the beginning of a recent cabinet meeting, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eradicating corruption at high levels of administration.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister al-Zaidi made it clear that government procedures will hold the relevant minister accountable for allowing any suspected corrupt officials to remain in their positions. Emphasizing transparency and accountability, he stressed that ministers would face consequences if they failed to act against corruption within their departments.

Furthermore, al-Zaidi highlighted that the Coordination Framework, a key political coalition, had expressed strong support for the government’s anti-corruption measures. Leaders from the Coordination Framework and other political factions have pledged not to shield any individuals involved in corrupt activities, reinforcing the government’s stance on maintaining integrity and trust in public service.
