Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the launch of a free emergency number (911) service, designed specifically for visitors from outside Iraq. This initiative aims to enhance security for both Iraqis and foreigners by providing instant translation in six languages ??to facilitate communication.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Major General Raed Abdul Karim, Director of the Central Response and Control Directorate (911), stated, "For the first time, the Ministry of Interior is providing a free emergency number (911) service via roaming for visitors from outside Iraq. This service aims to respond to emergencies immediately upon their arrival in Iraq, whether they are visitors, businesspeople, diplomats, or tourists, thus contributing to enhanced security for both Iraqis and foreigners."

He further elaborated on the high-level coordination between the Ministry of Interior, the Media and Communications Commission, the Ministry of Communications, and mobile phone companies on the technical aspects of the service. Additionally, there is operational coordination between various formations within the Ministry of Interior and other security and service ministries.

Major General Abdul Karim emphasized that the Central Response and Control Directorate (911) provides instant translation services in six regional and international languages. This is particularly useful during large-scale visits and religious events, enhancing the provision of security services to all segments of society, both citizens and foreigners. The emergency number (911) serves as a crucial link between citizens and the security services and the departments of the Ministry of Interior.
