Baghdad: Quantities of smuggled medicines and a women’s hair salon used for cosmetic medicine were seized in Diyala. The Diyala Health Department announced the seizure of quantities of smuggled medicines and the closure of a women’s hair salon operating as a cosmetic clinic during an inspection campaign in the Al-Muqdadiya district, northeast of Baquba, the provincial capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faris Al-Azzawi, the Diyala Health Department’s media director, stated that the inspection campaign was carried out in coordination with the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. Legal measures were taken against those found in violation of the law.

He further explained that the inspection campaigns targeting private institutions are part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and strengthen oversight of health institutions in the province. These measures are a critical component of the department’s strategy to ensure compliance with health regulations and to safeguard public health in the region.
