Baghdad: The Ministry of Labor has announced that all individuals registered in the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities database will benefit from reduced tuition fees.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, revealed that all those listed in the Commission’s database are eligible for a 50% reduction in tuition fees at both public and private universities. This applies to beneficiaries of the full-time caregiver’s salary, those covered by the job leave decision, new applicants who have not yet received a Key Card, and individuals with a valid medical decision registered with the Commission.

The Department of Media and Arab and International Relations noted that Ms. Dhikra Abdul Rahim, the head of the Authority, stated that to qualify for this benefit, the disability percentage in the valid medical decision must be at least 75%. Additionally, the student or one of their first-degree relatives must be officially registered in the Authority’s database.

Ms. Abdul Rahim urged those interested in this privilege to visit the Authority’s headquarters to obtain an official letter of support, confirming their eligibility, for submission to the relevant university or college. This initiative underscores the Authority’s ongoing efforts to promote social solidarity and reduce financial burdens on families of people with disabilities, thereby supporting a conducive educational environment.
