Tehran: Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, confirmed that Iran is not seeking to resume negotiations with the United States to resolve their differences, denying statements made by US President Donald Trump on the matter.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qashqavi wrote on the “X” platform: “Trump’s claim that Iran requested negotiations is completely untrue.” He further added that the US president should look for better ways to get out of the predicament he is in, emphasizing that repeated lies no longer even provide short-term relief to the markets. This statement was a reference to the impact of US statements on oil markets.

Earlier, Trump announced that Iran was seeking a new meeting with the United States, but that Washington is not currently interested in resuming negotiations “until Tehran is concretely ready.”
