Basra: A security source confirmed on Thursday that the Shalamcheh border crossing was unaffected by the incident on the Iranian side, and that the flow of pilgrims entering Iraq continues normally.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the source stated that crowds of pilgrims are continuing to cross the border towards the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the Arba’een pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), noting that there has been no disruption to the flow of pilgrims from the Iraqi side.

The source added that the crossing was attacked on the Iranian side this morning, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries, but emphasized that this did not affect the smooth flow of pilgrims through the Shalamcheh crossing.
